Cultivate your career

WA State Mentorship Program

Be supported by a community of experienced osteopaths.

As an early career osteopath working in WA, you will be eligible to participate in our early career (1-5 years from graduation) WA State Mentorship Program. Run monthly by Western Australian clinic owners, you will be exposed to practitioners with up to 30+ years experience. This is invaluable exposure to the excellent clinicians that work in Western Australia, and a wonderful way to have consistency, stability and community in a new state. Plus, have access to over 11 face to face hours of CPD per year, for free, without having to travel!

Run on a volunteer basis, this program reflects our passion in wanting to nurture careers of osteopaths. We think Western Australia is the best place to have a really fulfilling experience within a tight knit community.

Western Australian State Mentoring Program for New Graduates and Onwards to 5 years in Practice

The Osteopaths of WA would like to encourage our colleagues new to the industry to take up this great, and free, opportunity for support and learning as they establish themselves in our great state working as an Osteopath.    We recognise that it is a steep learning curve out of university into private practice.  And can be isolating without an opportunity for guidance and feedback from those with more experience.  Particularly if the new practitioner is also a newly arrived West Australian without established professional relationships.

The State Mentoring Program is a collaborative initiative by several Clinics in Perth offering to share a monthly informative session on all things Osteopathic and relevant to becoming a competent, confident practitioner.   This will be held over 1-1.5hours on a weekday evening at rotating clinics to make it manageable for people from all areas of Perth to attend after a days work.    There are many things that are challenges in the early years. Including but not limited to managing clients, giving a prognosis on outcome, providing referral networks to other modalities. Practitioners will have a topic of interest to cover but it will also be a regular opportunity to meet local colleagues, see other clinics and discuss queries informally with others working in the industry.

Our community in WA is small but professional and supportive of each other.   Many practitioners work in multiple clinics and also move between clinics to cover leave.  Often we are busy enough to send clients to each other.  We would like any new arrivals to our profession in the state to feel a part of our growing community. The opportunity to meet and greet on a regular basis is both to learn together and to grow our network to form the face of our emerging profession in Western Australia.
